This girl also attends the art class I go to. Every week one person models as others draw them, which is why I drew her. I couldn't draw her face. I like drawing the entire body of a person, but I don't like faces for some reason.

Blond Girl 金髪の少女

My art teacher had a potrait order of this girl and her brother (you can see his sleeve). There were several photographs of them, but the girl was very cute and I wanted to practice drawing potraits (I'm not very good at faces) so I drew her. He nose was tricky.

I was told by my art teacher to try using my other hand I don't use because it is good for my brain. I don't ordinarily use my left hand, so I used that hand and drew my teacher. It's very messy, but I'm glad it looks like a person.

Kid Violinist 子供バイオリニスト

My brother also modeled for me in this picture. A violinist is so hard to draw! Not only the arms move when a violinist plays, but they also swerve and rock back and forth to maintain balance when they are standing. He also stopped often to move his music or otherwise. In the end I decided to stop trying and just watch for a while, then take some photos to draw details out of. This is what is the composite of several photographs and my unreliable memory. The boy does not really look like my brother, because I stink at people's faces.

これも弟がモデルになってくれました。バイオリニストって描きにくい！腕が動くだけではなく、立っている間はバランスを保つため前後に体を大きく揺らす。しかも弟は楽譜を動かすなどのためによく止まる。仕方なくあきらめてしばらく弾いている様子を眺めてから写真を撮ってみました。この絵はその写真や私の頼りない記憶をあわせた物です。人の顔は苦手で、弟にあまり似てない．．．

Hands That Hold A Violin バイオリンを持つ手

My younger brother (who plays a violin) modeled for me while I sketched these. I love drawing hands! Especially when they are doing some kind of skilled work, such as playing an instument. When they do such things hands make complicated and fine-tuned but balanced, stable and beautiful shapes that are difficult but exciting to draw.
