Self Portrait X 自画像X

Acrylic self portrait. I've now lost count of how many self portraits I've done... Because the subject is so readily available it's one thing I paint when I don't know what to paint.
It's from the same picture I use for my profile... my profile pic (I took it myself, with a mirror) I've altered a bit to look duotone.

自画像。数えてないので、いくつ目なのかわからない。すぐ描ける物なので、何を描いていいか分からないときに書く、自画像。プロフィールにこれを描くのに使ったのと同じ写真（鏡に映して自分で撮った）を載せている。そっちは二色に加工した。

闇 Darkness

I found some things I drew/painted more than a year ago, and realized I haven't put them on the site.... (I have a lot of stuff like that) So here's one of them.
The project for a painting class at school: self-portrait showing the entire body. My art teacher photographed me, and I made up the surroundings except the white backdrop. That's a sheet hanging from a portable white board to hide the messy classroom.
Time: I don't know. A few day's worth of class.

一年近く前に描いたものがいくつか出てきた。そういえばサイトに載せていない。。。（そういった絵は多し）とりあえず一つ紹介します。
学校のペインティングクラスで描きました、「全身を写す自画像」。撮影してくれたのは絵の先生で、撮影場所は教室。シーツを引っ掛けたバックドロップは本当にあったもので、あとの暗いバックは適当に教室の壁や他生徒のかわりに描いた、造り物。

Fukuroda Falls 袋田の滝

This is a waterfall that isn't too far away from my hometown in Japan. It's a small tourist attraction... the wooded mountains are beautifully lush green during the summer and spring, and brilliantly red, orange and yellow during the fall. In the winter the falls supposedly freezes and you can ice-climb. And my brother liked the barbecued ayu (type of small fish found in freshwater rivers) fished, cooked and sold there.
Recently, rainfall has gone down and less water come down the falls... ten years ago the flow was so great you would get sprayed with the mist and you could barely see the charcoal-black rocks underneath.

袋田の滝は私の日本の出身の町から遠くない小さな観光地。春夏は豊かな緑が美しく秋はすばらしい紅葉がみられる。冬は滝が凍るのでそれを登る人もいるとか。弟は売っていた焼き鮎が気に入ったようだ。
最近降水量が少なく、滝や川の水嵩が減ってしまったらしい。十年前は水しぶきが激しく、滝の下の黒い岩が見えないくらいだったという。

A portrait of the older of my 2 younger brothers. He plays the violin. There are lots of rough areas but oh well... the hands took forever but still aren't good...

A quick painting of apples and pears I found. The pears were especially fun to paint... but I don't like the background.

Lines, Stripes and Color 線と幅と色

カンバスではなくマットボードに塗りました。タダでボードを先生にもらったので、あまり考えずに遊び気分でいっきに描き上げました。汚い色を出すつもりだったんだけれど親によると「きれいな色」らしい。

絵の画材などを売っている店でちょうど合うフレームがあったのですぐ買いました。家族が「かっこいい。絶対１０００ドル以上の値がつく」と言ってくれたときはお世辞でも嬉しかったです．．．絵自体の画材は５ドルもかけてないのに．．．　「どっかのお金持ちの生活感が無い家にでも置いてありそう」か．．．

父が「白い区切りがいいね。線が無かったらすこし落ち着かない絵かも」と言う。そうでしょうか．．．？

I painted this on a mat board, not a canvas. Because I got the board for free, I painted on it spontaneously and without thinking. I tried to make dirty colors, but people tell me they're "pretty colors."

I found a frame that fit it nicely so it was bought immediately. My parents told me "It looks very cool. It should be at least 1000 dollars." ...I was happy, even if they may have been simply exaggerating... But I've only spent less than $5 on the materials besides the frame!

My dad says "the white lines are nice. Without them, the picture would be kind of restless." Really...?

Latesummer Riverbank 晩夏の川辺

Second acrylic painting I ever did (finished)! It's photographed because it's too big to scan.
Actually, I used some watercolor paint at first and then used oil in the trees a bit... It's more mix media.
From both pictures and actually going to and painted at a small river at a park nearby our house. The white lines in the water are diagonal... Please ignore that.
There is about 5 or 6 layers of different color paint here on top of each other, from redoing things over and over. I feel like I wasted a lot of paint in this one.
Time: A lot of time. At least 10 hours, I'm sure. Lost count because I painted few minutes one day, then hours another, then...

生まれて二作目のアクリル画。スキャンするには大きすぎるので写真です。じつは少し水彩と油を使っているのでミックスメディアに近い。
写真と実際その場所に行って写生しました。水の白い線が斜めになってるのには目をつぶって下さい．．．（汗）
何度も塗り直したのでペイントの層がいくつもあると思います。結構絵の具を無駄遣いしてしまった作品です。
時間：結構かけました。最低10時間。何度にも分けて描いたので数えてませんでした。

This is the first 100% acrylic painting I have ever done, drawing from memory. I was inspired of the beautiful sky I saw one full moon in September.

I painted this from a photo in a book, and it is also the first oil painting I've ever done. It's blurry, dark and I don't like it... My art teacher gave me the frame for free, so I put it in that.
